Whats your melee weapon of choice?  Obviously guns are a necessity in the outbreak, but what are you going to do when you run out of ammo, or your gun falls into disrepair?

Mine is the humble crowbar.  Not only can it crack skulls, it is also lighter than an axe, and a useful tool.

I agree w you kendall. I've noticed that alot of the zombie sites revovle around guns and people that have all the cool toys, nothing wrong w that. I like guns too but I'm not gonna rely on them completely. I like long knives, but I would also go w a tactical tomahawk. Gonna need to be quiet as much as possible. A nice crow bar will also be in arms reach for multi-purpose needs

I would also have to go with a tomahawk.  It is a multi-use tool and light to carry.  With practice it can be thrown if needed and you can carry several in a pack.  It can also be used effectively in a crowded area due to its size and maneuverability.

A friend had a suggestion of "The Trucker's Friend".  I've never heard of it, but apparently it incoorporates an axe, hammer, nail puller, and crowbar into one tool.  Anyone seen one or own one of these?

The Trucker's Friend definitely looks groovy....I would certainly choose a tactical tomahawk (ie United Ranger Hawk), Gerber Gator machete pro, or even a military style trench/pick tool and if at all possible a pair of CRKT Hisshou...no, not katanas...look 'em up! lol

I better start my tomahawk training.  Sounds like a lot of people are on board with that one.

Just got my Pestilence Chopper from Ka-Bar and I love it.  Still waiting on the Truckers Friend to get here though.  If your considering a quality knife at a decent price, I'd hit up http://www.kabar.com/

I bought United cutlerys M48 kommando tomahawk and I must say, that thing is awesome! it was everything I wanted in a combat 'hawk, the only downsides are that i've heard it's not good to throw because the handle breaks. My other pride and joy is a pummel pipe that I 'built myself, it's basicly a small warhammer made from pieces of plumbing but man does it do some damage.

I am curious to see how the Truckers friend stood up to the expectations of our members?'

Crossbow for distance, long machete for close combat.
